Learning to Read, bilingually

Eleanor has learned how to read this year. To my surprise, she has seamlessly learned to read not just in English but also in Bosnian. When she reads words, she doesn't automatically assume the English pronunciation, either, like the rest of us in the family do. The other day we were making sandwiches with part of our precious American peanut butter stash, and she asked, "Why is it called Yeef?"
