It's hard to learn a new language, even if you are the age that it is the easiest. Poor Eleanor and Isaac! We've been trying to find a way to support their language learning. One thing we're trying is children's songs.
Turns out many languages have a Ring-around-the-Rosies rhyme, including Bosnian. It goes:
Ringe ringe raja.
Došo ćika Paja
Pa pojeo jaja.
Jedan jaje muć.
A mi djećo...ćuć.
Which means roughly:
Ringe ringe raja (nonsense words).
Uncle Paja comes
and eats eggs.
One egg cracks
And we children...crouch!
If a classroom full of Japanese schoolchildren can do it, we can too. Right?
