Post-war Recovery: Dogs

My unscientific, idiosyncratic observations about differences between now, in 2010, and 2002 when we lived here before.

In 2002, we saw very few dogs. There was a dog on a chain in a yard near our house, and the only other dog I ever saw was on a leash held by a German woman as she walked to a chic outdoor cafe frequented by internationals. We assumed at the time that Bosnians, in general, disliked dogs.

But I guess not. We see dogs everywhere--stray dogs, pet dogs in yards, and dogs being taken for walks by their owners. The only downside is that you have to watch where you step now.
